Today the Globe and Mail ran a story stating that a special edition of a Spider-Man comic will feature a six-page story about Spidey intervening when an imposter tries to take Obama’s place as president. It hits newsstands next Wednesday.
Truthfully, the story idea sounds a bit lame but it is another remarkable feat in Obama’s rise to power and popularity, even before he becomes president. And with luck, as an avowed Spiderman fan, he won’t take that power lightly.
Marvel editor in chief Joe Quesada was quoted in the story as saying:
“I think one of the reasons why Obama would be a huge Spider-Man fan is probably because of the mantra by which he lives, … that with great power there must also come great responsibility,” he said.
“As president of the United States, I think that’s a credo that he should live by.”
