remembrance day

This is a quick note to thank my father, Flt. Lt. H. G. Williams for his service to our country. An RCAF pilot, he was attached to the RAF and flew Wellington bombers out of Tunisia during World War 2.

the city as supporting character

In sequential art the city is often the most important supporting character. This alleyway was drawn in Adobe illustrator.

Alley drawn in Adobe Illustrator by David Williams.

The style I used is similar to my treatment of Foggy Night Batman.

night sky: star trails

This was my first try at astral photography. I used a long exposure to capture the movement of the stars across the night sky as the earth rotates. I’d heard that all the stars rotate around the north star but the dense trees surrounding our campsite made viewing in that direction impossible. The best surprise of this photo was the effect of our firelight on the surrounding trees, causing the fantastic orange colour. The blurry leaves must have been moving on the night breeze.

foggy night batman

Foggy night Batman fan art by David Williams, 2008

This Batman drawing is a combination of Adobe Illustrator® art work for the background and a quick pencil sketch i did on my lunch break at work. It’s not perfect but I like the roughness of it.

Comic Art 3: This alternate reality WWII era Batman propoganda poster is a bit of a poke at the underwear and cape wearing superheroes we all love. Batman Hero Bonds fan art by David Williams, 2008. The character BATMAN is the trademark of DC and other respective owners.

OK I lied… I haven’t done Poison Ivy yet. I am still struggling with the right interpretation. Meanwhile however, I have had a yen to do a WWII era Batman for quite a while. More »
